A key aspect to excellent natural areas stewardship is frequently exchanging ideas and techniques with people who do similar work. I’ll be heading to The Stewardship Network Conference Friday and Saturday to do just that. According to their website “The Stewardship Network connects, equips and mobilizes people and organizations to care for lands and waters in their communities.” Their conference plays a key role in fulfilling that mission.
What will I be doing at the conference? There is a great lineup of talks and workshops, including learning about oak savanna restoration, invasive species control, prescribed fire, chainsaw maintenance, volunteer management, Phragmites control, and much more. I will also meet representatives of of conservation and land management organizations from across Michigan and the Midwest.
I’ll check in next week to share what I learned!
Ben,
I am so glad that we hired you!!
Bob Yager
I’ll be thinking of various situations in our parks as I listen to the presentation and talk with the folks there. I’m excited for the broader perspectives and new information I’ll pick up.
Thanks for going. Looking forward to hearing how we can apply some of what you learn at the conference in Oakland Township.
